Court upholds arrest of Inter RAO executive Karina Tsurkan

MOSCOW, Jun 28 (PRIME) -- The Moscow City Court claimed valid arrest of Karina Tsurkan, an executive of Russian power producer Inter RAO on suspicion of espionage on Thursday.

“A court arrest decision has been left unchanged,” Tsurkan’s lawyer Dmitry Tsuprik said. “Karina… does not plead guilty, does not understand what she is accused of and what she has done. She sees the criminal case as an attempt to oust her from the post due to her moral integrity and incorruptibility.”

According to an earlier report by newspaper RBC, Russia’s Federal Security Service suspects Tsurkan of leaking data on power supplies to Crimea and the east of Ukraine to Romania.
